Meet the Team
Adam Thompsett
Registered Manager
Adam has been working in care since he was just 18 years old, steadily building his experience across a wide range of settings — from mental health and learning disabilities services to elderly and dementia care. That breadth of experience means he brings a rich, well-rounded understanding of what truly person-centred care looks like, whatever a resident's needs may be. Over the past five years he has grown into his role as a manager, having previously served as a deputy manager before stepping up to lead his own home.
Known for his high standards and honest, straightforward approach, Adam believes that being direct and fair, go hand in hand — his team and residents always know where they stand with him. But behind that high standard is real warmth: he's outgoing, easy to talk to, and brings a genuine sense of fun to daily life in the home. At the heart of everything he does is a simple guiding principle — he strives to deliver the same standard of care he'd want for his own loved ones.
Martin McMahon
Deputy Manager
Martin's journey into care happened almost by chance — he applied for a cleaning job at a care home, but the team saw something more in him and encouraged him to move into care instead. Within just a year, he'd completed his training and been promoted to Community Manager, going on to achieve his NVQ Level 3 in Care and later his Level 5 diploma in Management of Health and social care settings. What started as an unexpected opportunity quickly became a genuine passion.
Along the way, Martin discovered a real love for compliance and quality assurance, and today that's where he channels his energy — building and refining the frameworks that keep our care standards high and our residents safe. He describes himself as a bit of a detective, digging in to spot where things can be improved and then rolling up his sleeves to fix them. While he doesn't get to spend as much time with residents day-to-day as he once did, he takes real pride and joy in watching his behind-the-scenes work make a positive difference to their lives, every single day.
Paula Atkins
Night Team Leader
Paula has been part of the team at Quinnell since 2016. Paula is responsible for the smooth running of the night team. Paula has a very direct approach to ensuring staff always work in the resident’s best interest. Her love and genuine care for each of our residents has helped shape so many of our amazing care staff.
Paula has a wealth of experience and is a certified Moving and Handling trainer. She attends training with enthusiasm always willing to learn and give valuable input. Outside of work Paula enjoys spending time with her partner, children and grandchildren.
